Inspiration
We wanted to be able to make something that was highly applicable to individuals struggling with skin conditions without access to a doctor.
What it does
The app SkinScan allows you to upload an image and we trained an AI model to identify three different types of skin conditions, psoriasis, eczema, and poison ivy.
How we built it
We first trained an AI model to be able to identify how to recognize the skin conditions. With our limited time we opted out of tensor flow and instead used vertex AI to train the model and Google cloud services.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled the most with connecting out AI model to the backend and bringing it to the front end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to build an API using flask, html, and python and we were very proud of our AI model.
What we learned
We learned a ton about APIs, AI models, Google cloud services and python, and wix.
What's next for Skinscan
We hope to expand and identify more skin conditions in the future.
