SkinCart turns one selfie into a personalised beauty shopping experience, powered by the YouCam API.
Take a selfie and SkinCart sends it to YouCam's AI Skin Analysis (scores 10 concerns — breakouts, pores, texture, fine lines, redness, oil, hydration, dark circles, dark spots and radiance, plus an overall score, skin age and a per-concern face map) and the AI Facial Color Tones Analyzer (skin, eye, hair and lip colour). Both analyses run in parallel and results are cached per image hash.From those measurements a recommender produces: a personalised routine (cleanse, treat, eyes, moisturise, SPF), a foundation shade match using CIE dE in Lab space across 16 shades (with undertone and depth), and lip colours matched to your undertone. AI Makeup Virtual Try-On lets you preview foundation and lip colour on your own photo with a before/after slider.
You can add items to the cart — with a bundle saving when you add 3 or more — and go through a demo checkout. Every product in the cart is tied to a measured score or colour, which reduces returns and makes recommendations defensible.YouCam APIs used: File API, AI Skin Analysis, AI Facial Color Tones Analyzer (skin-tone analysis), and AI Makeup Virtual Try-On.
Built with Node.js 18+ and Express on the backend and vanilla HTML/CSS/JS on the front end. It runs in demo mode without a YOUCAM_API_KEY and deploys on Render via render.yaml. Repository is public (MIT).
