Inspiration

Many people become worried when they notice acne, redness, wrinkles, dryness, or other changes in their skin. They often search online and start using skincare products or creams without really understanding what their skin needs.

Fashion has a similar problem. When shopping online, people often wonder, “Will this outfit actually look good on me?” A color or style that looks great on someone else may not suit them in the same way.

We were inspired by these everyday problems and wanted to build a solution that helps people understand their appearance and visualize their choices before making decisions.

What it does

Skin AI & Apparel VTO combines AI-powered skin analysis with virtual fashion try-on using YouCam APIs.

AI Skin Analysis: Users upload their photo and receive visual analysis of facial characteristics such as acne, redness, wrinkles, skin texture, and other features. Visual Skin Insights: The system highlights different areas of the face so users can better understand their skin instead of blindly trying products. Apparel Virtual Try-On: Users upload their photograph and an outfit image to visualize how the clothing could look on them. Personalized Fashion Visualization: The platform can help users explore different styles and colors based on their appearance and preferences.

Our core idea is:

Analyze yourself → Visualize your options → Make better decisions.

How we built it

We built the application around YouCam's AI APIs, integrating facial analysis and virtual try-on capabilities into a user-friendly web application.

The workflow is:

User Image → AI Analysis → Visual Results

and for fashion:

User Image + Apparel Image → Virtual Try-On → Generated Visualization

We designed the interface to make the process simple, so users don't need technical knowledge to interact with the AI features.

The project combines AI image processing, facial analysis, virtual try-on technology, API integration, and a modern web interface.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was making the AI experience feel useful rather than just visually impressive.

We had to think about how to present skin analysis results in a way that users could easily understand without overwhelming them.

Another challenge was achieving a realistic virtual try-on experience while dealing with differences in body position, lighting, clothing shape, image quality, and image backgrounds.

We also had to handle image uploads and API responses efficiently while keeping the user experience smooth.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to combine two different AI experiences — skin analysis and virtual fashion try-on — into one platform.

Instead of building just another image-generation application, we created a concept around a real user problem.

We are especially proud of:

Through this project, we learned that building an AI application is not only about calling an API and getting a result.

The most important part is how we use AI to solve a real problem.

We learned about API integration, image processing, prompt and workflow design, handling different types of user images, and designing AI outputs that are understandable to normal users.

Most importantly, we learned how AI can be used as a visualization and decision-support tool, rather than simply as a content-generation tool.

What's next for Skin AI & Apparel VTO

This is only the beginning.

Our next step is to make the platform more personalized and intelligent.

We plan to add:
