Inspiration

I knew about cryptocurrency and how it was the first currency of its kind, being decentralized. I learned more about how cryptocurrencies work and discovered that currency was the only thing being decentralized. I thought that it would be a good idea to make other fields decentralized as well so that everyone can enjoy it and that became Skilly.

What it does

Skilly is a form of decentralized education and what this means is that anyone can log on Skilly, teach a class and earn cryptocurrency. This cryptocurrency can then be used to buy other courses on the platform. Basically, if you have something to teach, you can also learn something. If you wanted to learn about Python for example and you were good at C++, you would make a small C++ class that people would joinm paying the entry fee in SkillCoins and then you can use that SkillCoin to buy a Python course.

How we built it

I built the entire thing using mostly HTML, some CSS and a little JavaScript. In CSS, I used Bootstrap so that I could get an authentic, responsive feel on it.

Challenges we ran into

Overall, on the website I didn't run into many problems as it was pretty easy to make the website but coming up with the idea of Skilly took a while and took many hours of thinking before I had a solid plan of what I was going to do.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of Skilly as a whole and how this could be something that existed in the real world today. I put in a lot of effort to make sure that this was something like a real company and something that you could expect to see in your daily life.

What we learned

I lerned a lot more about entrepreneurship and the entire idea of creating a company. In terms of coding, this was the first time I used Bootstrap and it was a little difficult to use it but with the help of online tutorials, I was able to figure it out and make a great website.

What's next for Skilly

Next, I would like to create the actual cryptocurrency behind it, make the website look nicer and actually turn this into a real thing in the world that you could expect to see.
