💡 Inspiration

In today’s hyper-competitive job market, we noticed a recurring problem: students and professionals struggle to effectively present their diverse skills, certifications, and personal projects. Traditional resumes often fall short of capturing the full spectrum of someone’s abilities.

We were inspired to bridge this gap and empower users to build a stronger personal brand through a dynamic and interactive portfolio platform. Thus, Skillvento was born — a smart, all-in-one solution to manage, showcase, and grow your skillset.

Skillvento is a comprehensive digital portfolio and career enhancement platform that enables users to:

    Auto-generate professional resumes using your profile and uploaded credentials.

    Generate a sleek, personalized portfolio with a unique URL — perfect for job applications or LinkedIn profiles.

🛠️ How we built it

We selected a modern, scalable tech stack to ensure performance, security, and future expansion:

  • Frontend: Built using React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS for responsive design and Lucide icons for clean visuals.
  • Backend: Powered by Supabase (PostgreSQL-based BaaS), handling authentication, database, and file storage.
  • Deployment: Configured using Vite for fast builds and an efficient development workflow.
  • Database: PostgreSQL (via Supabase) stores all user data, certificates, and analytics records.

🧗 Challenges we ran into

Every great product comes with its own set of hurdles:

  • Complex State Management
    As features scaled, maintaining state across components became tricky, especially with deeply nested UI components.

  • Data Sync & Consistency
    Ensuring consistent synchronization between the client UI and Supabase backend during asynchronous operations like file uploads and live data updates was a key challenge.

  • Asynchronous Handling
    Smoothly handling loading states, errors, and feedback during real-time actions required deep understanding of React lifecycle and async/await patterns.
