Inspiration

Skills are an essential part of working with AI, and we really needed a way to manage the skills on our devices. There are a couple of solutions out there but none of them were really functional because they needed better product vision, structure and functionalities.

What it does

Skilltopia is a Mac app, that offers a birds eye view of the skills installed on your device and allows for easy management.

There is an "explore" tab, that sources skills from shills.sh. And users can search for skills and instantly choose to install the skill - globally or to a specific project.

Skills are shown in list and grid views, with categorical filters. New skills can be explored, searched, evaluated and easily installed. And installed skills can be copied to other providers, or uninstalled.

How we built it

We started working on the app on the 19th and it's been 2 days of sheer dopamine rush with Skilltopia. We used Codex to grill and build a lot of functionalities like ...

Challenges we ran into

Categorisations and structural visualisations are something we are still figuring out. In hashing it with Codex, it was especially difficult with the filtering of the installed skills, and to come to one understanding because most of what Codex said seemed to be wrong.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

For an app that was created in less than two days, the design and the overall quality of the app is something that we are both very proud of.

What we learned

This was our first Mac app. Everything from the initiation of the product to learning the infrastructure, the tools, and the environments was all part of the learning curve for this project. We also learned what it means to create a product without a PRD. And carefully managing the time because we were on a deadline. Also while carefully selecting the features that needed to go in the MVP release.
