SkillSync 🌐🤝
A peer-to-peer skill exchange platform built effortlessly with Bolt.new AI for the No-Code Hackathon.
Inspiration
SkillSync was born from a question many students and self-learners ask themselves:
“I want to learn something new, but I can’t afford expensive courses — is there another way?”
The idea came from real-life conversations — where friends would casually teach each other skills, no payment involved. That spark turned into a vision:
A platform where people can trade skills instead of money, just like the barter system - with knowledge.
What it does
SkillSync is a peer-to-peer skill exchange platform that:
- Lets users list skills they can teach and skills they want to learn
- Matches users with similar learning interests
- Encourages mutual growth through teaching and collaboration — not competition or payment
It’s learning powered by community, not currency.
How I built it
Bolt.new AI — an incredible platform that understands your vision and builds your project for you.
I simply described:
- The core concept (skill swapping between users)
- The features I needed (matchmaking, profiles, clean UI)
- The tone and style (minimal, user-friendly)
Bolt.new handled the rest:
- Set up the pages
- Managed the logic
- Integrated backend functionality (like user data handling)
- Structured everything professionally
Tech Stack
- Frontend: React + TypeScript (Vite)
- Styling: CSS
- Backend: Supabase (auth & database)
- Project Builder: Bolt.new AI
Challenges I ran into
- Figuring out how to communicate complex ideas simply to the AI
- Limiting features to keep the MVP focused and hackathon-ready
- Learning how to think like a “project designer” instead of a “coder”
- Trusting the AI to build what I imagined
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
- Took a full project from idea to working prototype — without traditional coding
- Understood how AI tools like Bolt can turn ideas into reality
- Designed something meaningful that solves a real-world problem
What I learned
- How to give clear, structured prompts to an AI builder
- That no-code doesn’t mean low-quality — SkillSync is functional, fast, and looks great
- How AI can replace technical bottlenecks and let creators focus on ideas
- The value of keeping things minimal and focused for impact
What's next for SkillSync
- Adding a calendar and scheduling system for sessions
- User badges and trust features based on reviews
- Community challenges like "Skill Swaps of the Month"
- A mobile-first version
- Opening the platform to clubs, schools, and local communities
Built with Bolt.new AI — no code, just creativity.
