Inspiration

We noticed a recurring "anxiety loop" among our peers in the Batch of 2026. With the tech landscape shifting toward Agentic AI, students felt overwhelmed by generic roadmaps and placement uncertainty. We were inspired to build an "active partner" rather than a passive tool—something that doesn't just track your search, but actively pulls you through it by focusing on Proof-of-Work and Market Readiness.

What it does

SkillSprint is an AI-powered career coach designed to bridge the gap between learning and employment.

Targeted Daily Tasks: Provides three personalized tasks every morning based on real-time market trends and individual skill gaps.

AI Skill Gap Scanner: Analyzes resumes and GitHub repositories to identify technical weaknesses and provide actionable fixes.

Mock Interview Simulator: Offers high-fidelity technical and HR interview practice with an adaptive AI that provides a detailed feedback scorecard.

Progress Dashboard: Tracks a "Readiness Score" and summarizes daily growth to keep students motivated and prepared for recruiters.

How we built it

How we built it we leveraged a hybrid tech stack to ensure a complete, functional product:

Backend Integration: Built with Node.js to handle complex logic, API orchestration, and SQL database management.

Frontend: Developed using next.js to create a clean, minimalist user flow.

AI Orchestration: Integrated Open Router to power the "reasoning" behind the skill gaps and interview personas.

Data Layer: Used SQL/Supabase for real-time user progress tracking and "Readiness Score" calculations.

Challenges we ran into

API Context Management: Teaching the AI to look at specific code in a GitHub repo rather than just giving generic "learn Python" advice was a significant hurdle.

Feature Scope: We had to resist the urge to add "fluff" and stay focused on features that truly helped the user stay organized and productive.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Functional Interview Agent: Successfully building an AI interviewer that doesn't just ask questions but "listens" to user answers and asks dynamic follow-ups.

Full-Stack Execution: Bringing together backend integration, UI/UX, and AI logic into a single, cohesive product with a clear demo flow within the deadline.

What we learned

User-First Thinking: We realized that a "complete product" is more about solving a meaningful problem than just having complex code.

What's next for SkillSprint

We plan to evolve SkillSprint into a fully Agentic Placement Platform. Future updates include:

Direct Recruiter Matching: Allowing users to share their "Live Readiness Score" directly with hiring managers.

Cold-Email Agent: An automated tool to help users draft personalized "Proof-of-Work" outreach based on their daily task completions.

Community Leaderboards: Gamifying the placement prep process to help students stay consistent through peer-driven motivation.
