Inspiration

We were inspired to create a product that we would use. All of us face the problem of feeling unskilled for the position and we wanted to know a clear roadmap on what steps we can take to upskill ourselves to secure a summer internship / semester internship as we are in our 2nd year.

We also wanted to create something unique and interactive, we took inspiration from Jarvis (Iron Man) to come up with the 3d sphere model.

What it does

Skill Sphere is a one-stop career portal that helps users discover relevant jobs, identify skill gaps, and upskill through a structured learning roadmap—all within a single platform.

How we built it

With Next.js, Docker, Postgres, Python and Three.js + no sleep

Challenges we ran into

It was very hard to know what were the requirements of the problem statement and how creative we could get with the solution as the statement was extremely precise with actual requirements.

We also ran into issues with the DB and parsing the PDF & CSV to get the skills/job descriptions and other data.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created something that is really unique and challenged us to try something new (three.js)

What we learned

We learnt how to work in a fast paced team and about the issues and challenges in the job market and the current solutions and the gaps that we identified.

What's next for SkillSphere

Hopefully, we can help existing solutions to be more interactive and incorporate skillsphere's core idealogy to provide value to users.
