Inspiration

Online Learning Systems can present numerous challenges for the learner. some of the main ones are: Time Management students find difficulty in managing their time with online learning. Online learning is completely new for them and requires intensive work. They need a scheduled planner to manage their time in an effective manner.

Self Motivation Students start losing hope once they find difficulty in online learning. It requires motivation to complete tasks and engage students with their learning. Lack of motivation is a common challenge for all students.

Communication Students lack effective communication skills during online learning. There are some students who feel shy to communicate with their teachers and friends due to the new model of learning.

Virtual Engagement Students find it difficult to communicate in person who struggles with understanding concepts. Many times these students do not even approach teachers to clear their doubts.

We focus our solution SkillSet around these challenges - to help improve the skillsets of the learner to ace their exam scores.

What it does

The application enables students to manage their online academic profile and subscribe to various curriculum, online content and complete the respective modules.

The progress is a motivating factor to enable learners towards completion. Actions are presented with points which the learner can collect and hence the experience is gamified. This is then published as leaderboard to encourage completing learning tasks within the same peer groups.

The completion – modules and level competencies are verified and recorded onto the blockchain. This can then be verified by others by searching against the individual or for the particular training content certificate. This enables learners to socially share their learning achievements with others in social and peer groups.

Groups are preferred compared to forums. Groups provide numerous engagement options and present the option of a continuous dialog between the learners community.

Rewards: learners are rewarded based on their group activities. This promotes higher user engagement and also provides a community help feature.

Online Meets: via zoom integrations, or google meet / alternatives, there is option to conduct online meetings within the peer groups. This presents a safe environment for learners to connect, as opposed to one-off skype meetings

How we built it

The project is built using various open source technologies. We had to start with the students profile and evaluate key features - homepage, course library and credentials vault. After this, we had to look into the profile and requirements of the educator - and what other requirements could be required. We built it using nodejs-react-js and mongo-db using serverless approach. for blockchain we have utilized ethereum.

Understanding the user challenges in online learning environment. Building chat workflows and audio-video integrations with zoom *** work in progress Blockchain Integrations were difficult *** we managed to complete this

Accomplishments that we're proud of

we were able to build a minimum experience solution with most of the working parts (except courses - as it is not the main focus of our solution). Credentials award on blockchain and groups are working.
