Inspiration

In today’s AI-driven job landscape, professionals are expected to understand and apply AI tools in their daily workflows. However, there’s no quick, tailored way to assess someone’s AI readiness across different job roles. That gap inspired us to build AI Readiness Check — a minimalist web app that helps professionals instantly evaluate their AI knowledge in under 30 minutes.

What it does

AI Readiness Check offers a clean and futuristic platform for assessing how well professionals understand key AI concepts. Users log in, select their job role, and take one of two test formats:

  • Quick Test – 10 questions, ~5 minutes
  • Full Test – 25 questions, ~22 minutes

After the test, the app:

  • Displays a score percentage
  • Breaks down performance across skill tags like Prompt Engineering, AI Ethics, Tool Usage, and Conceptual Understanding
  • Recommends targeted resources for improvement (e.g., YouTube videos, topic names)

How we built it

We built this in Bolt to move fast while maintaining beautiful UX. The app structure includes:

  • Login page with job role selection (e.g., Marketing Manager, Software Engineer, etc.)
  • Test selection screen to choose Quick or Full test
  • Interactive question flow, one question per screen, with Previous/Next navigation and a progress bar
  • Results page showing score, tag-wise performance, and tailored learning links

Challenges we ran into

  • Designing a system that delivers real insights with only 10–25 questions
  • Mapping each question to meaningful AI-related skill tags
  • Maintaining a minimal, clean look while including all required logic
  • Creating useful and actionable feedback in a short app flow

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • A complete, functional app with real educational value
  • Designed and launched the tool with zero clutter and a futuristic vibe
  • Created a tag-based performance scoring system that makes results actually useful
  • Delivered the MVP entirely inside Bolt, without external code

What we learned

  • Simplicity wins — especially when testing real-world readiness
  • Tag-based feedback is more actionable than a plain score
  • Professionals appreciate apps that feel designed just for them
  • Bolt is powerful enough to prototype full workflows

What's next for SkillScan AI

  • Gamify the test with streaks and badges
  • Add AI-powered question adaptation based on user role
  • Build an admin dashboard for organizations to assess employee readiness
  • Launch a mobile version with calendar-based reminders
  • Integrate with LinkedIn to add results as a certificate or highlight
