Inspiration

The inspiration for SkillPilot came from a deeply personal experience. After completing my diploma, I felt completely lost. Despite searching across Google, forums, and videos, I couldn’t find a clear path or direction. It felt like I didn’t know anything—and I wished I had someone to guide me.

Then I looked around and realized my friends were facing the exact same confusion. But one of them had something different: a big brother who worked in tech. That brother mentored him step-by-step, helped him choose the right learning path, and today, my friend has a great job in the tech industry.

That made me think—what if everyone had a “big brother” to guide them in tech, no matter where they come from? And that’s how the idea of SkillPilot was born:

What it does

SkillPilot is an all-in-one, AI-powered platform designed to guide anyone—especially beginners, students, career switchers, and underserved communities—through their tech career journey from start to success. It acts like a virtual mentor, offering personalized, step-by-step support to help users discover, learn, build, and grow in the tech world.

How we built it

Frontend: Built with React, styled using Tailwind CSS, and enhanced with Framer Motion for smooth animations. Backend: Powered by Supabase for authentication, database (PostgreSQL), and API integration. AI Integration: Integrated OpenAI GPT-4o via the Pica API for real-time mentoring, feedback, and career advice. Design: Responsive, accessible, and interactive UI with personalized user experience. Other Tools: Local storage for client-side preferences, Lucide icons for visuals, and Vite for fast build tooling.
