Inspiration

Across the world, millions of students learn valuable skills but struggle to prove them in a way that leads to real opportunities or income. Resumes often exaggerate abilities, certifications can be inaccessible, and traditional hiring processes exclude capable talent—especially in emerging economies.

We were inspired to build SkillPay to flip this model entirely: instead of claiming skills, users prove them through real challenges and get paid instantly. Our goal was to create a system where skills become currency, accessible to anyone with talent and an internet connection.

What it does

SkillPay X is a verifiable skill-to-earn platform where users: Connect a blockchain wallet Complete real-world micro-challenges Get submissions evaluated using AI-powered scoring Earn real crypto payments instantly Receive verifiable skill badges Install and use the platform as a Progressive Web App (PWA) Employers and organizations can post paid challenges, instantly access proven talent, and pay only for validated results—removing guesswork from hiring.

How we built it

SkillPay X was built as a production-ready single-page application with modern web technologies: Frontend: HTML5, TailwindCSS, Vanilla JavaScript Blockchain Payments: Wallet-based architecture (Web3-ready) enabling real peer-to-peer payments AI Scoring Engine: Automated evaluation logic simulating real AI-driven skill assessment Progressive Web App (PWA): Offline support Installable on mobile and desktop App-like user experience Data Layer: Local persistence for demo purposes, designed to scale to cloud and smart contracts The system was designed to be modular, scalable, and extensible to real AI models and on-chain verification.

Challenges we ran into

Designing a trustworthy AI scoring model without over-engineering during a hackathon timeframe Integrating blockchain payments while keeping the UX simple for non-crypto users Balancing realism with demo constraints (no backend servers) Ensuring the app worked smoothly as an installable PWA across devices Each challenge pushed us to simplify without sacrificing credibility or impact.
