Inspiration
The idea for SkillOrbit was born from a simple question: “Why do we often abandon our hobbies even though we love them?” We realized many people struggle to improve their creative skills like drawing, photography, or writing not because they lack passion, but because they lack structure, guidance, and motivation. We wanted to build something that combines the fun of RPG games with the power of real intelligence, to help people grow their hobbies in a smart, organized, and enjoyable way.
What it does
SkillOrbit acts as an AI-powered personal coach for creative hobbies like drawing, photography, and writing. It helps users grow their skills through a smart, gamified experience that adapts to their level and energy.
How we built it
The concept of SkillOrbit revolves around building a smart hobby coach that functions like an RPG game: -Users pick a hobby (e.g. drawing, photography, writing) -The app analyzes their current skill level using AI techniques -It assigns personalized challenges and tracks progress -Users earn points, unlock new stages, and join a community of people with similar levels to grow together.
Challenges we ran into
While working on SkillOrbit, we faced some challenges: -Making it smart: It was hard to design a system that could really understand someone’s hobby level and give the right feedback. -Keeping it fun and useful: We wanted it to feel like a game, but also help users actually improve. Finding the right balance took time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of what we achieved while building SkillOrbit: -Turning an idea into a real plan: We started with just a vision and were able to turn it into a clear, structured app concept. -Blending AI with gamification: We successfully designed a system that uses smart features to make learning hobbies fun and effective. -User-centered design: We focused on making the app friendly and helpful for users of all levels, not just experts.
What we learned
We learned how to take a creative idea and turn it into a clear, structured project. We discovered the importance of focusing on users’ real needs, how to keep them motivated, help them grow, and avoid overwhelming them. We also learned how to balance fun with purpose by combining game-like elements with real skill development. Working with AI taught us how it can personalize the user experience by giving smart feedback and adjusting challenges based on progress. Most importantly, we improved our teamwork and problem-solving skills as we tackled each challenge together.
What's next for SkillOrbit
Our next step is to create a basic version of SkillOrbit that brings the main idea to life. We’ll focus on one hobby first like drawing and include smart feedback, skill tracking, and simple challenges. Once the core features are working, we’ll improve the design, add more hobbies, and test the app with real users. Later, we’ll build the community feature, add smart scheduling, and connect it with social media. Our goal is to keep developing the app step by step until it becomes a fun and helpful tool for hobby growth.
