Skillo began from a place of frustration — a quiet, lingering uncertainty I felt throughout my career. There were moments I didn’t enjoy the work I was doing, but had no idea what I was fit for next. I moved across sectors — from non-profit to corporate, tried entrepreneurship, and in recent years, faced long-term unemployment.

But the hardest part wasn’t just the job loss. It was not knowing how to position everything I had done. Not knowing how to move forward.

I realized I wasn’t alone. So many people go through these phases — where your skills are real, your journey is long, but it doesn’t quite translate on paper. Many have a “good CV” but hear nothing back. And most job tools care more about keyword matches than human potential.

How We Built It

I had no technical background, but a very clear vision. With the help of ChatGPT and friends, I planned the app step by step, designing features and user flow.

Using Bolt Assistant’s natural language prompts, I built the entire app — from the logic to the backend connections — without writing traditional code. ChatGPT supported along the way whenever I hit a wall.

Challenges We Faced

Everything was a challenge. From setting up GitHub to learning how Supabase works, I had to learn everything from scratch — especially databases, edge functions, and bug fixing. Each time I got stuck, I went back, learned, and retried until it worked.

Accomplishments We’re Proud Of

The biggest one: Skillo exists. Seeing my idea come to life — despite no prior experience and limited resources — has been overwhelming and deeply fulfilling. I'm proud to have built something real, something meaningful.
