SkillForge AI — Our Story

🔥 Inspiration

I've always been someone who wants to learn — constantly. But every time I tried to pick up a new skill online, I'd hit the same wall: where do I even start? I'd have 40 browser tabs open, half-watched YouTube videos, and no real structure to hold it all together. There was no single place that said "here's your plan, here's what to watch, here's how you know you're ready to move on."

That frustration became the seed for SkillForge AI. And when I discovered MeDo, I realized I didn't have to wait — I could actually build the thing I'd always wished existed.

🎯 What It Does

SkillForge AI turns any learning goal into a structured, week-by-week roadmap — tailored to how much time you have and where you're starting from.

You tell SkillForge what you want to learn, your current level, and how many hours a week you can commit. From there, it builds your personal study plan complete with curated video resources, documentation, and a quiz at the end of each week to make sure the knowledge actually sticks before you move forward.

No more scattered tabs. No more guessing what to learn next. Your skill acquisition roadmap is just a conversation away.

🛠️ How We Built It

Before writing a single prompt, I spent time doing proper research — mapping out the core user journey, identifying what features were truly essential, and thinking through the edge cases I didn't want to discover after building.

With that clarity, I wrote a detailed, structured prompt describing exactly what SkillForge AI should do and fed it into MeDo. The result was remarkable — MeDo scaffolded the core framework of the application from that single prompt. From there, it was an iterative conversation: refining the UI, resolving backend issues, tightening API endpoint behaviour, and gradually shaping the rough scaffold into a full, fleshed-out application.

It wasn't just "generate and ship." It was research → prompt → build → refine → repeat.

🧱 Challenges We Ran Into

The first thing we knew we couldn't compromise on was security. With user data and learning progress on the line, we needed to make sure the platform wasn't vulnerable to bot signups or unauthorized access.

To tackle this, we implemented two-factor authentication (2FA) on both signup and login — adding a layer of protection that ensures every account belongs to a real, verified user. Getting this working correctly within MeDo's framework took some back and forth, but it was non-negotiable for us.

🏆 Accomplishments We're Proud Of

Shipping the MVP of SkillForge AI is genuinely something we're proud of — but we're trying not to get too comfortable there. An MVP is a starting point, not a finish line.

What matters now is getting it into the hands of real learners, listening to what they say, and building the next version around their actual experience. The launch is the beginning of the story, not the end.

📚 What We Learned

There's one lesson from building SkillForge that we'll carry forward into everything else:

A well-thought-out idea, clearly communicated, is already half the build.

MeDo showed us that the quality of what you create is deeply tied to the clarity of how you think. The better we understood our own product, the better MeDo could help us build it. The tool is only as sharp as the person holding it.

🚀 What's Next for SkillForge AI

We're listening. Feedback from early users will shape everything that comes next — whether that's smarter roadmap generation, better quiz experiences, progress analytics, or community features that let learners connect around shared goals.

We're building in the open and iterating fast. If you're someone who's ever felt lost trying to learn something new — stick around. Let's forge that skill together.
