Inspiration

There was a pencil and paper version of this idea presented at a UBC Ted talk.

What it does

Connects the world by exchanging knowledge and skills that people have. Everyone has something they can teach someone and something they want to learn. The website matches users with someone that can teach them the skill they want to learn.

How we built it

The website was done using HTML and the code for the matchmaking was done in C++ (however, it was not completed in time).

Challenges we ran into

Everything was challenge but the two biggest challenges were coming up with an idea as none of us had an idea before the hackathon. Also, time was a major issue.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to have something completed for the website, something we all thought was relatively presentable.

What we learned

Everything takes more time than you think it will. It would be beneficial to already have an idea prior to the start of the hackathon. Don't try to build algorithms in C++.

What's next for Skilld

Try to complete the matchmaking algorithm and get everything to work.
