Inspiration

The inspiration for SkillConnect came from observing how many young people struggle to find the right career direction and develop the skills necessary to succeed in today’s competitive job market. While platforms exist for networking or learning, very few offer personalized, AI-driven guidance that connects career discovery, skill development, and real-time resume evaluation in one place. We wanted to create a platform that not only guides users toward a career path but also empowers them to learn, prepare, and present themselves effectively.

🛠️ How We Built It

We structured the project into four major components:

Frontend Development

Built with HTML, CSS, Tailwind CSS, and JavaScript for responsiveness and aesthetics.

Used emoji & icon-driven UI for engaging design while keeping the layout professional.

Career Path Guidance

Designed an interactive career exploration page with fields like Science, Commerce, and Arts.

Added an AI-based career test to assess user interests and recommend suitable paths.

Skill Development Hub

Curated high-demand skills with links to credible sources (Wikipedia, external courses).

Planned integration of an interest identification test to suggest learning paths.

Resume Builder & Analyzer

Simple UI for building resumes.

AI-based resume scoring and suggestions.

⚙️ Challenges We Faced

Creating an Engaging yet Professional UI Balancing visual appeal with a clean, minimal layout was tricky.

Integrating AI-Driven Components Designing career and resume analysis that feels personalized without overcomplicating the UX.

Page Flow & Linking Ensuring users could navigate between career paths, skill pages, and the AI test without confusion.

Time Management Coordinating multiple features (career guidance, skills, resume builder) within the project timeline.

📈 Future Plans

Add real AI APIs for career guidance and resume scoring.

Include gamification elements to keep users engaged.

Integrate real-time job market data to recommend skills with highest ROI.
