Inspiration

The inspiration for SkillSage came from the potential of AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Google Gemini. We wanted to create a smart and accessible learning tool that could help students get answers quickly and learn in a simple and engaging way.

What it does

SkillSage is a Telegram-based AI chatbot that helps students learn by providing answers to subject-specific questions and solving problems from images or text. It simplifies the learning process, making it easier for students to understand complex concepts.

How we built it

We built SkillSage using Node.js and integrated it with the Google Gemini API for natural language processing and the Telegram Bot API for seamless chatbot interactions. The project involved a lot of API integration to ensure smooth functionality.

Challenges we ran into

We faced challenges right from the start: first deciding what to build, then figuring out how it should work, and finally, the classic "Why isn't this working?" moments that are every developer's rite of passage! The main hurdle, however, was hosting the chatbot since it was my first experience building one. It was a steep learning curve, but also a rewarding one.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to have built a tool that can genuinely help students and make their lives easier by providing instant, reliable answers and educational support. Knowing it has the potential to aid learning is a big accomplishment for us.

What we learned

We learned a lot about how the Google Gemini API works and realized the vast possibilities AI offers in education. It was surprising to see how easily one can create powerful AI tools with the right resources and a bit of creativity.

What's next for SkillSage

The next steps for SkillSage include integrating video recognition to allow users to get answers by uploading educational videos. Our goal is to turn it into a go-to place for students to find answers and learn effectively.
