Inspiration

Refugees can find it hard to identify their skills when writing their resume. Often, their life experiences translate into valuable skills for the workplace, but they don’t realise the value they bring, so don’t add them to their resume. Today, some organisations work one-on-one to create resumes with refugees. But organisations can only allocate a certain amount of time to this, so a technology solution would help ease the workload for these organisations, and put the power into the refugees’ hands.

What it does

Skill Genie will help refugees translate these life experiences into skills that are valuable in the workplace. They will select from a list of life experiences (for example raising children, or selling products from a cart or stall), and will be shown a list of skills that relate to this experience. They can then choose which of these skills to add to their resume.
