What it does
Displays current altitude alongside skis while descending terrain.
How we built it
Calculates current progress based on configurable summit and base measurements. Can be updated for specific lifts or runs.
Challenges we ran into
Power draw was not sufficient to keep the portable battery on. Required use of a resistor across the 5V supply.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Compact design without excessive weight or impact on maneuverability.
What we learned
Configuration of individually addressable LED strips and BMP180 sensors utilizing SparkFun BMP180 and Pololu LED Strip libraries.
What's next for Ski Altimeter
Additional features requiring accelerometer and gyroscope sensors. Weatherproof enclosure with suitable venting and battery life.
