✨ Inspiration
We wanted to build something quick, weird, and wildly entertaining — something you could play while waiting for your coffee, killing time on the toilet, or competing against friends in the ultimate battle of creativity. SketchyAF was born from the idea of merging chaotic drawing, meme culture, and real-time multiplayer mayhem, all wrapped in a bite-sized game you can jump into instantly.
We’ve always loved games that don’t take themselves too seriously — think Cards Against Humanity meets JackboxTV — but what if it was faster, had booster packs, and let you vote on the dumbest masterpiece in real time?
🎨 What will we do
SketchyAF is a real-time multiplayer drawing game. Players join a random lobby, get a prompt (like “Superhero Dog” or “CEO of the Apocalypse”), and sketch it out using simple drawing tools.
Each round ends with a voting phase where everyone picks their favourite drawing. Submissions earn points, and the leaderboard updates round by round. Bonus? You can power up your sketches with themed Booster Packs, think meme overlays, background chaos, and even adult-only stencils if you're feeling spicy.
Oh, and everything is ephemeral, each round is self-contained, so there’s no pressure too. Just pure creative chaotic fun.
🛠 How we're building it
Vibes.
🕹️How to play
You will need to find 3 friends to join you, as the game requires 4 players. Once you've all created accounts, click to play a game. Once all 4 of you are in the lobby, the game will commence accordingly - ENJOY!
🧱 Challenges we're preparing to solve
- Keeping multiplayer state in sync across devices, especially with dropped players or people rage-quitting mid-doodle.
- Designing a drawing experience that’s fun on both desktop and mobile, without bloating the interface.
- Separating “ephemeral fun” from “long-term utility”, we had to constantly gut features that slowed down the chaotic fun.
- Incubating dopamine-demanding triggers to keep players engaged and wanting more.
- Building in multiple monetisation mechanisms to create a road to growth without relying on adverts.
- Figuring out how not to creep out the judges with our Adult Booster Pack (we leaned tasteful… mostly).
