Inspiration
We were inspired to create Skeep to help users de-clutter their playlists and save their most valuable resource: time.
What it does
It connects to the user's Spotify account and displays their most skipped songs, offering an option to archive them in a separate playlist.
How we built it
For the back end, we used the Spotify API, Python, and Flask for the routing and functionality. For the user interface, we used HTML and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
Spotify's API currently does not provide all the information needed to complete the project, so we used mock data to display the user's skips.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We overcame the challenges of the unknown, being our first-ever hackathon, year in college, and big project. We didn't have any experience with APIs and chose to learn and implement it in the given time.
What we learned
We learned a lot about networking, valuable teamwork skills, communication, business in the Computer Science field, and API usage
What's next for Skeep
We want to collaborate with Spotify to get access to the data we need and in the future integrate this feature into Spotify.
