Inspiration

The game 'OverCooked', 'JackBox', and the Wii

What it does

The game focuses on motion controls on mobile phones. There are 6 possible the players will have have to ready their ingredients at. Every station makes the user use their phone like a cooking utensil to completed their station. For example, the chopping station has the player move their phone sideways and move it up and down like a knife. Each player had 4 ingredients to be made at different stations. After the time limit, who ever made the most dishes, wins the game.

How we built it

The app was structured with TypeScript, with a shared package for game definitions, events, and reusable logic, a Node.js server using Express and Socket.IO for multiplayer communication, and a React frontend for the host screen and phone controls. The server manages the kitchen state and decides what is valid.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was setting up a live server with Node.js and phone motion controls being smooth.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The biggest accomplishments was solving how to set up the Node.js server and having the phone motion controls being smooth and responsive.

What we learned

We learned how to work together in GitHub, How to use Node.js, and Socket.io, and Frontend development. We also learned how to debug and problem solve as a team.
