Inspiration

Often times, we find ourselves craving something sweet or savory or maybe spicy, but we don’t know what exactly it is that would satisfy that craving or where exactly we could find it. Therefore, we created a website to help people find the nearest restaurants offering exactly what they are craving.

What it does

The project is a user-friendly website, Sizzle, that can be of use to people across the country in finding restaurants with flavors that they crave.

How we built it

We build this app using VScode . We used React to create components , MongoDB to store all the data required, and Express to connect database with React components.

Challenges we ran into

We also run into some problems with double binding the variables across multiple buttons with respective components to render the desired values. We had some difficulties with authentication and passport which allowed users to sign up and login. Routing through multiple pages proved difficult as well as saving a specific restaurant and putting it back on collection. We were also familiarizing ourselves with MERN stack as well.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This web app proves that with perseverance and "stackoverflow" , there is no obstacle we can't overcome.

What we learned

We learned more about React, Express, MongoDB, Nodejs. We also learned that APIs have different authentication processes.

What's next for Sizzle

We will continue to improve its performance as well as more polished, modern UI.
