Inspiration
Traffic in cities is exploding. The normal car user is wasting many hours in traffic. RoboTaxis could be the solution. The pick you up and deliver you to your destination, while you are working. Also, if all vehicles will be automated, traffic accidents will be dramatically reduced. In order to fulfill the version of a RoboTaxi City, we implemented an App to control all positive effects of an Robotaxi.
What it does
The App can be used in four different modes. A registered user can i.e. decide, whether he wants to travel alone to get some work done or with other people heading to the same direction in order to reduce the CO2-footprint and their costs. Also, the App includes a Sightseeing Mode, in which the RoboTaxi will become a Tour Guide through the City and will deliver helpful and exiting information and a Deliver Mode, in which the Taxi can be used as a normal, autonomous delivery car, for example to get food, groceries or your online purchase. The car picks you up at a chosen destination and drives you to your ordered destination. The design was inspired by the three main colors of Sixt - orange, black, white.
How we built it
Frontend: We used flutter for the app, including a Google Maps API. Backend: Based on Spring Boot, also uses the given Sixt and Google Maps API. Memebers: Khadim Fall - Main Front-End, Tristan Kaupa - Main Back-End, Dennis Gölitz - Front-End, Organisation
Challenges we ran into
Design and Usability issues
Accomplishments that we're proud of
An working and well designed App, in which the user can book his Trip with the Sixt RoboTaxi!
What we learned
We learned a lot about APIs and how to cooperate in an purely digital environment with new met people. It was really fun!
What's next for Sixt RoboTaxis App
