Inspiration
We've never built a website before and really wanted to learn HTML, CSS, and JavaScript at this Hackathon. When it came to applying what we had learned, we decided to make a simple website showcasing our six favorite Java games that we programmed together.
What it does
The SixPac website has a layout of six java applets that can be played by the user. Each game involves the user in a fun and interactive experience, enough to get a six pack!
How we built it
We built the framework for the website with HTML and CSS styling. We incorporated the Java games as Java Applets.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was converting the java programs into applets and viewing them on our browser. Unfortunately, it turned out that Chrome no longer supports the plug-in necessary to run our applets. Therefore, Internet Explorer is necessary to use this website. Additionally, we faced challenges with putting together our newly gained knowledge of HTML into a cohesive idea.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the great amount of things we learned while developing this website and having fun along the way. Building both the games and the website was a memorable experience.
What we learned
We learned a lot about HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We also learned more about project development and how to put together our different levels of experience.
What's next for SixPac
We plan to add more games, make the website more visually pleasing, and expand its outreach to people.
