Inspiration
I wanted to build something meaningful, and this is one of the problems I think has been overlooked.
What It Does
The platform — a charity concept — offers two simple ways to connect:
- Voice calls powered by AI for consistent daily interaction
Video calls with real humans when available, for deeper connection
Algorithm matching users with an account(volunteers) to people who don't have an account(elderly)
along with some other cool features
Together, they ensure no one feels alone — even when people can't be there.
How We Built It
I used:
- Bolt.new
- Eleven Labs
- Supabase
- Google Forms
- An algorithm to match volunteers with elderly individuals
Challenges We Ran Into
For the MVP, we focused on building the UI for the video call feature only. This is because the site relies on an algorithm that matches elderly users with volunteers (who must have an account). Since volunteer onboarding hasn't started yet, we prioritized UI and functionality so we opted for a demo option for this for now.
Accomplishments We're Proud Of
Consistently dedicating time to this project. I usually have ideas but struggle to follow through — this time, I stayed committed.
What We Learned
Bolt is a powerful tool for non-technical people like me who just have an idea.
