Inspiration

I've always wanted a clear path in my head when it comes to making decisions. I mean, who doesn't, right? Reading Dr. Edward de Bono's "Six Thinking Hats" opened my eyes to a new way of thinking. It's like having six different colored glasses to look at a problem, each color giving a new perspective. I figured, why not make this into a tool that everyone can use?

During my immigration journey here in the USA, I navigated through difficult situations and decision-making entirely on my own, without another person to help me think with greater clarity. So, my app, Six Thinking Hats, would be a blessing for those who are alone and need some extra help before making a final decision.

What it does

So, what I came up with is this app—think of it as a personal decision-making coach. It guides you to look at a problem from six different angles. Like, it helps you sift through your emotions, the data you have, the pros and cons, and creative solutions you might not even think of usually.

How I built it

Building this wasn't a walk in the park. I had to teach the AI behind the app what each hat meant and how to use them right. I'm talking about crafting and tweaking the prompts—telling the AI exactly what I'm looking for—over and over until it got it.

Challenges I ran into

The main hurdle? Getting the AI to grasp the subtle ways humans think. Sometimes what's clear as day to us just doesn't click with AI. It's like trying to explain how to ride a bike to someone who's never seen one before.

No being allowed to use statics images, enhanced markdown capabilities could help a little with this, for inserting images and changing font colors would greatly improve content presentation. I can do this in markdown since I have used this before, I tried to do the same here without success. This is important for adding personality to my project , to infuse my apps with life.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

But here's the kicker: I did it. The app works and it's out there helping folks make heads and tails of tricky situations. When I see someone use it and they get that 'aha' moment, it's like scoring the winning goal in extra time.

What I learned

Through all this, I learned patience and persistence pay off. And more than anything, that tools like my app can really help clear the fog when you're stuck on a decision. It's not just about what the app does—it's about giving people a way to untangle their thoughts and come out confident on the other side.

Hi there! If you enjoyed using my app, why not explore some other apps I've created? I think you might like them too! 😊🤓
