Inspiration
We were inspired by the DIAL app we use at RPI. Our main vision was to develop a website in which you could feel more connected as well as have updated contact tracing in real time.
What it does
The website allows you to track your interactions among a network of your friends to be aware of your covid status as well as notify friends of covid-19 exposures.
How we built it
We built this website using javascript and node.js and hosted the website through glitch.com.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a handful of challenges, most of them stemming from the fact we are all very new at this and have never attempted anything like this before. It was a very different experience for us, who are used to coding individually, to have to divide and organize a project among the three of us with a limited time frame.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As our first hackathon, we are simply proud that we finished. We initially worried that maybe we over scoped ourselves but after many hours of work we were able to pull just about everything together.
What we learned
As the project went on, we learned a lot about working as a team to create a cohesive project and greatly sped up the development time as a result.
What's next for Six Feet
We still had a handful of features which we simply didn't have time to implement. We will likely try to add these when we find time.
