Inspiration
SiteCraft AI began from a simple idea: why is building a website still so hard for beginners? Many students struggle with HTML, CSS, responsive layouts, and understanding how components fit together. Even existing no-code tools feel intimidating or too complex. I wanted to create a tool where building a website felt as easy as editing a picture — visual, intuitive, and powered by AI.
What it does
SiteCraft AI is a lightweight prototype of an AI-assisted website builder. Users can drag-and-drop components, generate sections with AI, and export clean HTML + Tailwind CSS. It supports basic layouts, editable text/images, simple grids, and preview modes.
How we built it
Built using the Base44 platform with AI-powered generation, Tailwind CSS export, and a minimal drag-and-drop interface. The focus was on creating a simple, educational workflow that beginners can understand quickly.
Challenges we ran into
-->AI generation was sometimes slow or inconsistent
-->Image, grid, and container editing had limitations
-->Navigation and footer features were incomplete
-->Responsiveness needed more refinement
-->Limited time kept the prototype simple
Accomplishments that we're proud of
-->A functional drag-and-drop builder
-->Working AI section generation
-->Responsive layout previews
-->Clean HTML + Tailwind export
-->Beginner-friendly UI
What we learned
We learned how important clarity and simplicity are for new learners, how tricky reliable AI generation can be, and how much thought layout systems require — even in small prototypes.
What's next for SiteCraft-AI
We plan to improve AI responses, enhance component editing (containers, grids, forms), make navigation fully functional, polish the UI, and expand templates to make the tool more powerful and educational.
