Inspiration
I wanted an app for myself to block apps so that I wouldn't simply bypass the limits. I also felt quite "alone" when going into this type of focus mode so this was a way to engage with likeminded people.
What it does
You can block apps, join communities (circle) (private or public) send each other messages that only appear on a lock-screen. Or have a "coach" send a message to everyone in the community.
How we built it
Swift, with firebase backend. Claude + Gemini to speed up the process.
Challenges we ran into
Had to first pivot from another idea that wasn't entirely technically feasible within the Apple framework. So had to rebuild most of the app from scratch. Also had to keep in check (through cashing etc) when the app should ping the database, it was doing it so often it would have bankrupted me if we had a 1000 users.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Shipping the app in 11 locales, both in light and dark mode!

To get a solid user base, the work has only started now that the app is live.
