Inspiration

I was inspired by the research I did inside Midjourney and OpenArt. After generating more than 25,000 images over a period of months, I felt like I was starting to touch on something original and special, having found a new species of creatures.

How I built it

AI played a central role in the film’s creation. Text to image and image to video models shaped the film’s visual language, while model training supported consistency in character design. Large language models assisted with concept development, brainstorming, and scripting. A broad range of AI driven techniques, including image to image, text to video, video to audio generation, and video upscaling were integrated into the pipeline to realize the film’s vision.

Challenges I ran into

Most of the challenges I faced were related to scene continuity, and at the time I was working on the film (around February, which in AI time is a very long time ago), I really had to close my eyes and imagine what a scene would look like and describe things very precisely. There was no multiple angle tool as you can easily find now. I was also not satisfied with lip syncing and similar techniques because they were lowering the quality of the outcome I wanted. I am happy I left out dialogue. A story does not necessarily need dialogue, but for my next project I hope I can incorporate it in a satisfying way.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

Managing to create a film that is consistent in its overall style, staying focused on a single project for months, and handling the writing, creating, and scoring.

What I learned

Learning to use new tools to tell a story is empowering. Imagination or Photoshop is still very much needed in this new AI driven world, and you cannot just generate everything. It took just as long as making a normal film. Creating details and keeping things clean always takes time. Editing and scoring took months, and that pace is simply part of the process.

What's next for Siren's Bloom

I hope it gets played in some festivals or theaters. After putting so much work into it, I want people to see it. It would feel like the effort had a purpose.
