Inspiration

I’m a mutual fund and insurance advisor. My business is spreadsheets and client calls, not compilers and bug fixes. But I kept hearing this weird idea: 'vibe coding'. Then I came across the hackathon and I signed up for it, even though I didn’t know how to code. Nothing. Zero. Being tech-savvy, I was curious to know. That curiosity turned into action. Based on my experience of working with hundreds of young parents, I knew their unique pain points when it comes to investment planning. Typically, I work 1-to-1 with them and guide them, which limits my ability to create an impact. This hackathon felt like an opportunity to solve the pain points on a much larger scale using an app!

What it does

SIPr is a tool that connects everyday spending with long-term investing. It helps families track real progress toward life goals (like kids’ education or retirement) without juggling ten different apps. It removes guesswork and gives you steady steps to achieve your money goals through Systematic Investment Planning.

How I built it

Having a cumulative experience of hundreds of 1-to-1 client calls, I knew the exact pain points young folks face when investing money. That became my starting point. Week one was survival mode, just learning how hackathons work. In week two, I started testing ideas. I watched tons of YouTube streams. Slowly, things started to make sense. I used tools like Perplexity to break down platforms from the builder pack and imagine how the pieces could fit. In the third week, I locked in towards building the app. Full focus. No distractions. Faced context issues and high token usage on Bolt. I learnt how to manage it using diff mode, visual inspector and discussion mode. I kept asking, searching, and prompting. Finally, it worked.

Challenges I ran into

  • I didn’t know how to code
  • Everything was overwhelming at first
  • Logic bugs and broken flows during the final stretch
  • Fighting self-doubt and screen fatigue
  • Running out of tokens and not being able to solve issues

But I kept going. One step at a time.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

  • Went from zero coding knowledge to a working build in 30 days
  • Got many users to sign up on the app and made tweaks as per their real-world feedback
  • Experienced the thrill of building in public
  • Turned a personal problem into a real project
  • Learned to use AI tools like Perplexity and Bolt to move faster
  • Didn’t give up when things broke
  • Was able to build the full app within the token limit by making changes manually in BOLT with the help of Perplexity

What I learned

  • You don’t need to know everything to start
  • Vibe coding is real! If you follow the energy and care deeply about the problem, you’ll find your way
  • The hardest part is going from zero to one
  • AI tools can help you punch above your weight, but you still need grit and curiosity
  • For the first time in my life, I understood code and made my GitHub account! I feel empowered!

What's next for SIPr

  • Refine the user experience
  • Test it with real families
  • Chart a clear path to monetisation
  • Scale it up to 10000 users in the next 3 months

This hackathon isn’t the end. It’s just chapter one.

Challenge Compliance

  • Bolt Hackathon - The entire app is built end-to-end on BOLT (manual tweaks made with the help of Perplexity to optimise token usage)
  • Custom Domain Challenge - www.sipr.site domain acquired for free from ENTRI
  • Conversational AI Video Challenge - SIPr Santa on landing page powered by TAVUS
  • Voice AI Challenge - Audio assistant on dashboard powered by ELEVENLABS
  • Deploy Challenge - app deployed on NETLIFY chipper-hummingbird-067e7d.netlify.app
  • Startup Challenge - backend of the app is powered by SUPABASE
