SIP&SITE Location Advisor was inspired by a common problem many new café, restaurant, and bar owners face: having the budget and passion to start a business, but not knowing where to open. Since location strongly affects customer traffic, rent costs, and long-term success, we wanted to create a smarter and more data-driven solution.
Our project is an interactive platform that helps users find ideal business locations based on their needs. Users answer key questions such as business type, budget, preferred area, and customer accessibility. Using these inputs, SIP&SITE analyses locations and provides personalised recommendations using factors like rent prices, transport access, competition density, and market opportunities.
Through this project, we learned how geography and business decisions are closely connected. We also developed skills in web design, data analysis, problem-solving, and presenting technical ideas clearly.
One of our biggest challenges was building a fair scoring system. Different users value different priorities — some focus on low rent, while others care more about foot traffic or visibility. Balancing these factors while keeping the platform simple and user-friendly was a major challenge.
Overall, SIP&SITE demonstrates how data and technology can help businesses make smarter location decisions.
