Inspiration
We were inspired by the professional interactive dashboards that are very popular in corporate firms, and decided to make our own!
What it does
Beyond just displaying the sales data, it also forecasts sales for the next few weeks. In addition, it tracks the current stock level, and all this information can be exported out as a PowerPoint deck at the click of a button. Business meetings have never been this simple!
How we built it
We used libraries such as pycaret to build the Machine Learning Model, and eventually chose an ensemble model of Ridge Regression and Elastic Net, with an accuracy of 83%. We then built the Dashboard in Tableau.
Challenges we ran into
It is literally our first time using Tableau, so picking that up was definitely our biggest hurdle.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
In light of the above, we're proud to say that we managed to learn and come up with a dynamic, interactive dashboard in the span of one hackathon!
What we learned
Mostly how to use Tableau to make interactive elements, how to make aesthetic shaded graphs, and general guidelines on how to display information for greatest clarity.
What's next for Singtel Dynamic-Interactive Dashboard (SDID)
We'd like for users to be able to input different discount amounts for the coming weeks, and for the model to forecast sales based on that. This way, it can be a tool for Singtel to decide how much discounts they need to give to reach sales targets.
