Inspiration

Through game design I came into the problem that ChatGPT was unable to make good 3D models for my video games without using external tools such as Blender. I thought it would be great to create a software that merges the functions of AutoCAD and Blender in one, and using ChatGPT-5.6 Sol I created a first version of it in three days.

What it does

You tell ChatGPT what you want to create a 3D model of, and it will create it right in front of your eyes. You can guide edits live simply by telling it what you want different or new.

How we built it

The entire project was created in a single ChatGPT-5.6 medium effort session in Codex using set goals. I told ChatGPT what I wanted, I asked for suggestions of what it thought was best, I asked it to investigate in depth AutoCAD and Blender to figure out what features they have, then it created a plan, and while following the plan with goals it made, I did live testing and gave it suggestions until completion.

Challenges we ran into

Since I started late, I only had three days to work on this. The greatest difficulty was including enough features in the short amount of time to make it work to the level of it being an alternative to Blender for 3D design. I worked with ChatGPT to narrow down the most important features to include now, and which to do later.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud that in only three days I made at least the start of an alternative to using AutoCAD and Blender, and an alternative that is as easy as telling ChatGPT what you want to create. I am also proud that I am able to create many different objects beyond just one narrow scope in only the three days I had.

What we learned

I learned that you have to be patient when working with ChatGPT-5.6 Sol, where it takes a while of autonomous effort to create valid results, but it is worth the wait. I also learned how to make a plugin for ChatGPT.

What's next for SimplyMade3D

Next is to add all remaining features to reach parity with AutoCAD and Blender, then it will be to improve it beyond those software and make the user interface better for humans to use on top of ChatGPT.
