Budgeting is tedious. It requires countless effort in formatting, performing annoying math, and a tedious amount of updating your budget with new purchases. Other budgeting apps pose security issues as they connect to your bank account to keep track of transactions but do not account for cash purchases. Simply Receipts is here to change that.

To use our app, sign in with google and upload a picture of your receipt. Our OCR AI algorithm will scan it, and provide a detailed breakdown of your budget for the month in the overview page. See how much you've spent already, and how much money you have remaining for the rest of your purchases in the month. Simply Receipts is fast, easy, and helpful in keeping you on track!

Some challenges we ran into were consolidating all back end data and having it work seamlessly with the front end using Firebase. It was difficult to produce a data layer to consistently pull information from due to the constant changing nature of 'state' systems in our project, but the team was able to get it to work with the help of the React libraries.

The team is proud of applying their ReactJS, Redux, and AI knowledge to create a product that is practical and helpful for students around the world. Next steps include having a bigger and better AI data set to train the model, more sorting options for the receipt data to allow users to have more control with their information, and creating a mobile app for this project for ease of use.
