Inspiration
We were inspired by one of the team member's experience helping senior citizens learn tech literacy in a non profit volunteering setting. There was a surprising amount of intimidation around even showing up, and learning things we take for granted like knowing email and Google search.
What it does
It simplifies the UI in a senior friendly fashion. We have an emphasis on accessibility, with larger font, high contrast colors, and speech to text/text to speech compatibility for screen readers. We also focused on functionality that research has shown senior citizens use most often, abstracting away unnecessary or confusing details.
How we built it
We built it by designing in Figma and developing in Android Studio with Java/XML/Firebase.
Challenges we ran into
At first, we were going to build a cross platform app, but then the setup was not working; we pivoted into Android which was difficult with the time restraint.
