Because WhatsUp Gold is almost always installed on-premise, and often in highly secured networks, it can be challenging to get remote access to metrics and KPIs about monitored devices, networks and applications. This complicates creation of web, mobile and chat clients, and often requires that firewall port(s) being opened up and/or VPN configuration being required on the client-side which impacts convenience and user experience.

This solution uses HDP's patented hybrid cloud-to-on-premise integration arhitecture using the HSP on-premise connector and the Autonomous REST Connector to locally consume WUG's REST API within the monitored network and then make the response data available to external clients via JDBC, ODBC and OData. To further simplify consumption of this data, Kinvey will use its built-in HDP integration to create app-first microservice APIs that make client development as simple as possible. This ease of client development will be illustrated by creation of a NativeChat chatbot for conversational querying of WUG metrics and KPIs.
