Inspiration
We were inspired by the universal struggle of procrastination, especially how it can snowball into stress, poor mental health, and missed opportunities. We wanted to build something practical that not only tackles procrastination but empowers people to take control of overwhelming tasks making progress feel achievable and motivating.
What it does
Simplify is an AI-powered tool that takes any large project and automatically breaks it down into smaller, bite-sized tasks. It dynamically adapts based on project type and user goals, helping users overcome inertia, stay organized, and maintain momentum toward completing complex projects.
How we built it
We used AI-assisted tools to help shape the UI, making sure Simplify feels clean, intuitive, and motivating for users. For the backend, we integrated the GROQ API to power our AI task engine, enabling it to dynamically break down complex projects into manageable steps.
Challenges we ran into
Throughout development, we faced challenges like clearly specifying project goals, managing AI token limits, and trusting the AI to generate reliable outputs. We had to quickly learn prompt engineering techniques to guide the AI more effectively, and we also made key decisions to narrow the project’s scope to stay focused and deliver a polished, working version of Simplify.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of building the entire project from the ground up, combining technical development, design, and planning into a functional product. We’re also proud of the simplicity of the core idea turning something as overwhelming as a big project into small, achievable steps and making it accessible through a clean, easy-to-use experience.
What we learned
While AI is a powerful tool, it can’t do everything. It still requires clear direction, thoughtful prompts, and human judgment to guide it toward meaningful, useful outcomes especially when dealing with complex or creative tasks.
What's next for Simplify
We have several exciting features planned to take Simplify to the next level. We’re working on localization to make Simplify available in multiple languages, a token manager to optimize user-AI interactions, and calendar integration to help users plan smarter. We’re also building a secure user system for personalized experiences and introducing collaborative quests, where multiple users can work together on shared projects and track progress as a team.
