Inspiration
Being a first generation immigrant, my mom and I struggled to read important documents, especially when some could influence our lives, like contracts, insurance, and government documents
What it does
It is an ai tool that simplifies documents and texts for you. Since there exists many other websites like this. I decided to add other features to help those people in need even more. There is an AI chatbot that helps the user to further ask detailed questions about the original or simplified text. There is also a text to speech option for those that are almost completely brand new to English
How I built it
Stacks used: TypeScript/React, FastAPI, OpenAI API, Azure vision, Elevenlabs, material-ui, pdf.js
Challenges I ran into
There was a major issue where scanned documents meaning non-text-file documents weren't getting scanned/read properly. But I was able to solve it with some research and found out about azure.
