Inspiration
It always fascinated me how astronomers calculate the distance between stars which are lightyears away from our planet earth hence i stumbled across Stellar Parallax, It's a process to measure the distance between celestial bodies by the apparent shift of position against background. There are many approaches to this process but almost all approaches defer in accuracy, in fact many approaches make it overly packed with unnecessary calculation making it overly complicated.
What it does
A simplified approach developing a standard form to find distance after getting Tanθ and Tanφ ( the slopes )
How I built it
Using trigonometry formulas
Challenges I ran into
Thinking of a simplified general form was very tricky as I had to research through many approaches
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Developing a simplified general form
What I learned
This surely exposed me to new opportunities on how implement and construct new equations
What's next for Simplification of stellar parallax
- [X] Creating a simplified general form
- [ ] Making a python program to automate the process
Built With
- gitbook
- maths
- trigonometry
