Inspiration

I felt like one of the biggest disconnects in healthcare is the gap between the visit to the doctor's and post visit. Sometimes I don't remember all the details of what my doctor said. That was my inspiration to create this project.

What it does

The idea is that this platform has both doctors and patients. After a patient leaves, the doctor uses the doctor portal on the website to instruct the patient on what to do after and what medications to take with what frequency.

How we built it

I used WebStorm to build it which is a very nice IDE for web development. I coded this with EJS and NodeJS and HTML/CSS/JS stack.

Challenges we ran into

I do not know the medical world that much. I struggled with finding solutions I could help with. Another challenge I encountered was a lot of empty space on the UI and I could not fill it up. UI design was a pain in general with this project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud that I was able to develop a small demo in 4 hours, especially with my lack of background knowledge in this area.

What we learned

I learned a lot about how inefficient the healthcare system is, with how many forms patients have to fill out. My original direction was to make a document simplifier but even I could not figure out how the forms worked.

What's next for SimpleJargon

I want to create an account system and overhaul the UI to make it much more visually appeasing and accessible.
