Inspiration
Because the theme of the Hackathon is camping, we thought it would be fun to do something about camping as well, especially during these hard times due to COVID-19. Many people could have forgot what camping is and many people may be camping for the first time ever. We also wanted to learn a new language such as html and css to challenge ourselves in our first Hackathon
What it does
It provides information on what camping is, how to go camping, what to bring, what to watch out for, and best camping locations.
How we built it
we built it using replit since it had a built in feature of html and css for making a website. It also allowed for my teammates to work side by side similar to a google docs.
Challenges we ran into
Although, we changed our ideas many times, one of the biggest challenges we ran into was learning html and css. At first it wasn't bad, but we quickly began to realize that using classes would make our program more readable and making each line/design unique, so we had to scrap our first project and begin fresh in the middle of everything.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're super proud of how it looked through Figma and how we got our website to at least function properly such as clicking on a button to continue to another website, or making a button to go back to our main website for easy use.
What we learned
We learned how to program in html and css, we also learned how to use Figma that can be incorporated in css
What's next for Simple Woodz
We will be trying to finish this program as much as we can, and maybe even make websites in the future utilizing the skills we learned here. We will likely broaden our knowledge in programming and designing to be much prepared in our next hackathon!
