SilverWatch: Balancing Care Load and Anticipating Need for Isolated Seniors
Inspiration
Singapore is rapidly becoming a super-aged society, with nearly 20% of residents expected to be aged 65 and above by 2026. While this reflects longer and healthier lives, it also brings new challenges: more seniors may experience social isolation, especially those living alone or without strong support networks.
During our exploration of ageing-related challenges, we were inspired by a key question:
How can we ensure that limited community resources reach seniors who need support the most — before they become disconnected from society?
Currently, Active Ageing Centres (AACs) often rely on manual outreach and fixed service boundaries. While this approach supports many seniors, it can make it difficult to dynamically adjust manpower allocation or identify neighbourhoods where future needs may emerge.
This motivated us to build SilverWatch, a transparent decision-support platform that helps AAC managers and community planners proactively identify and support seniors at risk of social isolation.
