Inspiration
I save tons of screenshots and links (workouts, recipes, places) and never use them. I wanted something that turns those saves into actions without a new habit.
What it does
Silo watches new screenshots, lets me share links from other apps, auto-tags the content (place / action / reading), and drops a small block on my calendar. The home screen is a reels-style feed with three buttons: Schedule, Snooze, Done.
How I built it
I kept it local-first. React Native + Expo for the app, device Photos and Calendar APIs, a tiny helper for OCR/link metadata, and simple rules for tags/durations.
What I learned
It was my first time making a mobile app so the whole thing was a learning experience.
Challenges
- iOS permissions and getting a dev build running without the App Store.
- Not downloading IG videos (ToS), so I store the link + preview and open it in the source app.
- Keeping the UI satisfying with very little time.
