Inspiration
Living life during the pandemic, we all have somehow connected to music. When we listen to music there comes a distinct experience of the passing of time. As the music changes, develops, and grows, certain ‘events’ in the sound mark out a subjective feeling of time. Our awareness of following this passage of time allows for the experience of traveling through time with the illusion of traversing through space – the illusion of motion. So we thought to experiment with music with animation. In the end, we end up with this silly idea, "Silly Billy".
What it does
Silly Billy is a website, where we are trying to play with music and animation. We have three animations. You can choose one and proceed further. Next, you need to give access to the microphone, to record the song. The file will be saved. Then from the saved file beats value will be extracted and according to bpm, the speed of the animated video will change.
How we built it
To get the bpm and change the video speed, codes were written in Python and JavaScript. We have used HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap. We have even used echoAR to create 3D models and 3D data visualization.
Challenges we ran into
This was the first time when we used python in our webpage and there were functions where needed output values of pythn script onto our js program. We worked really hard to make it work.
Accomplishments we are proud of
We are really glad that we could implement around 80% of our idea. We have learned a lot of new skills which will be fruitful for us in the future.
What's next for Silly Billy
We have to make the user interface more smooth and user friendly.
