Inspiration
The Mediterranean Ocean is known to inhabit the largest variety of marine species. These species are being endangered by pollution (ghostnets). Silicon squadron is inspired to protect marine life because a healthy ocean is equals to a healthy environment. Oceans can sequester carbon dioxide from the atmosphere at rates up to four times higher than forests can. (83% of the global carbon cycle is circulated through marine waters). Addressing ocean pollution will definitely assist us in achieving SDGs, in particular SDG 13, 14 and 6 has inspired us. As a way of addressing this, we are mainly focused on educating and raising awareness.
What it does
The mobile app is used by fishermen to answer key details about the net health condition and multiple critical insights like date and which demographic the fishing occurred and captures reasons for loosing the net We also have a unique feature by push notifications 90 days before the lifespan of net expires and educating importance of proper disposal of nets Future Enhancements 1.Integrating voice based answering of these questions or graphical icons for easy adoption to the mobile app for fishermen 2.To motivate the fishermen to use this application we have come up attractive partnership reward programs like free education to fisher children, and health benefits to fishermen families. In addition to this subsidized rates for new nets with those who regularly record their details by using this app 3.QR scan code by integration on all fishing net details and history can be verified quickly before permit for voyage
