About the Project

SilentSOS started with a simple thought — what if someone needs help, but cannot safely ask for it?

Many people going through fear, abuse, or emotional stress are not always able to press an emergency button or openly call someone for help. We wanted to build something that could quietly understand when a person might be struggling, without making it obvious to others around them.

That’s how SilentSOS was created.

On the surface, it looks like a simple notes and wellness website where users can write reminders, thoughts, shopping lists, or daily notes. But in the background, AI carefully looks for signs of fear, stress, emotional pressure, or hidden messages for help. The platform also supports Hindi, Hinglish, and English so it feels more natural and useful in real-life Indian situations.

We built the project using React, Vite, Gemini AI, and modern frontend tools. Along the way, we focused a lot on making the website feel calm, normal, and safe instead of looking like a typical emergency app. Features like hidden AI analysis, safe phrases, emotional trend tracking, and trusted contacts were added to make the experience more practical and discreet.

One of the biggest challenges was teaching the AI to understand emotions and context instead of just checking for keywords. Another challenge was designing a website that feels completely normal to an outsider while still quietly helping someone in the background.

Through this project, we learned not only about AI and web development, but also about designing technology with empathy and real human problems in mind. SilentSOS is more than just a tech project for us — it is an idea focused on safety, privacy, and support for people who may feel unheard or trapped.
